Translation Equipment and Tools

 

·      The LVI computer room is equipped with 13 computers supplied with Open Office software (17 licences) and TRADOS machine translation software (13 licences).

·      The students use SDL Trados in translation process as well as in text and terminology corpora compilation. Working with this program, students continuously update it.

·      Specialized software programs for written translation (Trados, Wordfast, SDLX) that facilitate students to learn how to translate (Trados Translator's Workbench, Wordfast Translation Memory), deal with terminology (Trados Multiterm Workstation, Wordfast Glossaries) and edit texts (Trados Tag Editor).

·      The most recent version of SDL Trados 2012 (SDL MultiTerm, SDL Passolo, SDL Trados WinAlign) software was installed in 2013.

·      At present mobile data video projectors, lap-top computers, overhead projectors, TV sets with DVD-players are available when delivering lectures.

·      The lecturers are supplied with portable CD recorders to be used at language and translation classes.

·      All the computers at the university are linked to the local network and connected to the Internet. Wi-Fi Internet is available in all the premises.

·      The Institute plans to set consecutive interpreting equipment in the near future.
